POLITICAL AFFILIATIONS
I have no political affiliations and will work to keep party politics out
of the City and Region which should not be controlled by Federal and/or
Provincial political interests,with agendas primarily for their benefit!!
PLATFORM
1. NEW BY-LAWS TO PROVIDE
a.Members of Council must permanently resign to accept a nomination for any
other elected political position,WHICH WILL END THIS PRACTICE;
b.Lessen costs radically by reducing number of Wards and Councillors to 6,from 11,saving 10 million dollars in one 4 yr. term;begin implementing fiscal responsibilty;
c.Different Regional and City councillors,in each Ward;present Councillor remuneration to be split two ways between them;
d.Members of Council to be limited to 2 consecutive terms;Councillors can then run for Mayor;but not vice versa;
e.Cannot run in a Ward,where you can't vote for Councillor;
f..No election signs of any description,except in proper sign locations,i.e.billboards,buses and bus stops etc;
2.OTHER
a.Shelve the LRT(Light Rapid Transit);,until the impact of the BRT(Bus Rapid Transit)is determined;in the meantime implement doubledecker and express buses to the subway immediately;investigate ferry boats into Toronto from Port Credit to foot of Bay St.,for example;build new ferry terminals as part of lakefront revitalization and bring visitors from Toronto to Mississauga,especially on the weekends;
b.No city Land Transfer Tax as it will cause property values to fall and is unnecessary if the LRT is shelved and costs and resultant taxes reduced; Mississauga will be more attractive to home purchasers,and property values will remain high and go higher;
c.Hire qualified youth at the City rather than retirees already collecting lucrative private pensions and don't even need employment;
d.Increase revenues from existing infrastructure(arenas,playingfields,etc)by bringing in more tournaments and participants and make lakefront(Port Credit,Clarkson etc.)a new entertainment/recreation hub/destination;i.e.a new ONTARIO PLACE,with increased docking facilities for summer tourists;
e.Less new hiring and more jobs contracted out,saving tax dollars,but all new hires to continue to be on contracts;
f.Use moral suasion on chartered banks for the benefit of Mississauga citizens and businesses,for more readily available loans with better terms and interest rates and more readily available lines of credit to new and existing businesses, that will create local employment and synergetic opportunities for other local businesses,creating further employment;
g.Create an office at City Hall to assist Mississauga youth to obtain information on academic,arts and athletic scholarship opportunities in Canada and the USA(NCAA),by helping prepare application forms and videos and give ongoing support to these applications,to ensure they are successful;
h.Create an office at City Hall to assist Mississauga Seniors to obtain reverse mortgages with reasonable fees and costs and assist with payment of taxes and utilities,where necessary, as indicated in a means test,and secure same on real property,as a lien,to be repaid when the property is conveyed by sale or Will;
AS A HIGHLY QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED CANDIDATE,I WILL BRING TO CITY HALL ,STRONG REPRESENTATION FOR THE CITIZENS OF
WARD 4 AND THEIR INTERESTS,ALL CONSISTENT WITH THE BEST OVERALL INTERESTS OF THE CITY OF MISSISSAUGA AND IT'S RESIDENTS!
